Whoop De Doo!

For Immediate Release: April 7, 2025

Ocala, Florida

Media Contact: Lisa Davis Engel

Twenty nine horse and rider teams tackled the $35,000 Marshall +Sterling Grand Prix [American Standard] yesterday at the Florida Horse Park, and William Simpson of Ocala, Florida, aboard Whoop De Doo, owned by Five Roosters, made their way to the winners circle.

Tracy Fenney of Ocala, Florida, and MTM Can Talk to Me, owned by MTM Farm, were the first horse and rider pair to tackle the jump-off course. Their fault-free time of 36.362 seconds set the new time to beat.

The lead was short lived after William Simpson and Whoop De Doo followed Fenney and with their fault-free round in 34.781 seconds, took the lead. According to Simpson, “Fence 12 and 13 rode a nice seven strides in the first round. But, after a tight turn in the jump-off, it rode a little bit of a forward seven, and it was just a bit tougher for everyone.”

Ryan Genn of Wellington, Florida and Bridlebourne Stables, LLC’s Concenthaga PA were up next, but eight jump faults and a time of 37.279 seconds would see them finish in tenth place.

Matthias Hollberg of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and Dean Richardson’s Acorn followed in the order and, with their clear round in 36.003 seconds, would finish in third overall.

Amateur rider Chelsea Stopford of Reddick, Florida, aboard her own Harvest Moon, followed with their fault-free jump-off round in a time of 41.926 seconds, earning them seventh place.

Jenni McAllister of Ocala, Florida, in the irons of Bertrand LeGriffon’s Toulamba, followed in the jump-off order and earned eight jump faults in a time of 38.700 seconds and an eleventh place ribbon.

Luis Sabino Goncalves of Ocala, Florida, and Sigma Stables, LLC’s Vick Du Croisy turned in a four-fault jump-off round in a time of 36.083 seconds, earning them a ninth-place finish.

Tim Maddrix of Ocala, Florida and Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Waters’ For Jens Z, turned in a clear jump off round in a time of 38.885 seconds which earned them a fifth place ribbon.

Ryan Genn returned for another shot at the jump-off, this time in the irons of Bridlebourne Stables, LLC’s Faveur De Piquet. A clear jump off round in a time of 35.794 seconds would see them finish in second place.

Tricia O’Connor of Williston, Florida, and Michael Kirby’s KT Kassander turned in a clear jump-off round in a time of 39.140 seconds and earned a sixth placing.

Hollberg and Jacqueline Mars’ Hachi were in the enviable last-to-go position. Four jump faults in a time of 34.645 seconds earned them an eighth placing and secured the win for Simpson and Whoop De Woo.

“I know 'Whoop’ like the back of my hand,” said Simpson. “We’ve been together forever and never even broke up once!” he laughed. “She has very fast feet and wants to go! The jump-offs are her favorite part of her life,” he added.

Simpson and Quentin VA were up next. The pair passed the timers in 30.903 seconds and took the lead.

Quentin is a rough and tough competitor,” said Simpson. “He won’t back down from any challenge, and the faster the class, the better! He’s like the Tom Cruise of showjumping ‘he feels the need for speed’”, he added.

No other horse and rider teams would post clear second rounds, leaving Simpson with the win and Nigel Potts with Orlando Van Klapscheut in second. Genn earned seventh with Ghosted and Cannon finished in eighth with Idem Dito

Marshall + Sterling Classic Hunter Derby

Isaac Leffkowitz

Pilots Half Moon Bay to the Win

Isaac Leffkowitz of Ocala, Florida, won the top two placings in the Week 2 Marshall + Sterling Classic Hunter Derby with Up the Ante, LLC’s Half Moon Bay and his own Cool as Elle, respectively.

"I love the hunt and go format for both of these horses," said Leffkowitz. "Both Half Moon Bay [Sunny] and Cool as Elle [Eli], are young, talented horses and not yet in the divisions that have the handy format as part of their division, so having the opportunity to incorporate handiness through the roll backs, trot jump and freedom to show brilliance of pace, regardless of the first round of scores, allows for the young horses to be educated and grown in a comfortable and familiar setting."

Leffkowitz continued, "I found the course to ride extremely well, while asking all the necessary questions to give the judges adequate areas to reward good riding, as well as good jumping horses. It was truly a well-balanced course. Sunny, who took the lead in the Derby has had a very successful start to his career as a young horse and has never disappointed me. Every show he excels via his talent and mental strength and on the weekends his owner Alison Kratish pilots him around the show grounds and is excited to show him again in the near future."

"Eli, who earned reserve, is a very promising young stallion and continues to impress me every ride. Eli was sent to me to break and get his riding career started. Most young horses I start go back to the owners, but Eli's breeder, Patricia Kobble, was very generous in letting him stay with me to develop. Eli is now owned in partnership with myself and Anne Donahoe, and will be standing at stud."

Winter Moon, owned by Cathy Rheinheimer and ridden by Heather Kuiper of Indianapolis, Indiana, finished in third place. No Questions, owned by Louise Petz and ridden by Meg Graham of Ocala, Florida, earned a fourth placing and Conner, owned and ridden by Karema Moheisen of Panama City, Florida, finished in fifth place.

Windhaven Farm’s Calaco R, ridden by Emma Rheinheimer of Lebanon, Indiana, earned a sixth placing and won the $250 Marshall + Sterling 3’ 3” Non-Pro Rider Bonus.

Seventh place was awarded to Chewbaca, owned and ridden by Elizabeth Devor of Ocala, Florida. The pair also won the $150 Marshall + Sterling 3’3” Non-Pro Rider Bonus. Devor also won the $100 Marshall + Sterling 3’3” Non-Pro Rider Bonus with her own Yungblud.

Wind Haven Farm’s Blossom NPF, ridden by Heather Kuiper, earned an eighth placing, and Bibby Hill’s No Doubt Van Het Vlierhof, ridden by Katherin Addington of Dallas, Texas, earned a ninth place.

Estatic, owned and ridden by Chelsea Stopford of Reddick, Florida, finished in tenth place and won the $250 Marshall + Sterling 3’ Non-Pro Rider Bonus.

Murdock, owned and ridden by Emily Chamberlin of Ocala, Florida, finished in eleventh place, and 976-Babe, owned and ridden by Stacey Reser of Ocala, wrapped up the class with a twelfth placing.

Psychedelic, owned and ridden by Heather Mills of Winona, Minnesota, won the $150 Marshall + Sterling 3’ Non-Pro Rider Bonus.
