For Immediate Release:  April 17, 2017

The Classic Company is pleased to announce that the 2017 USHJA Emerging Athletes Program, presented by Dover Saddlery, will take place at the Atlanta Summer Classics June 11 through the 15th. Chris Kappler and Anne Thornberry will be the clinicians. During the five-day program, riders have the opportunity to work with top riding clinicians and stable managers. Riders are instructed on flatwork, gymnastics, related distances and course work, as well as an intensive stable-management curriculum that incorporates proper care and grooming, horsemanship skills and barn management.

Today is the deadline to apply-so don't delay a moment longer. Riders who are interested in participating in a session can apply online at www.ushja.org/EAP. The deadline for the EAP at the Atlanta Summer Classics is today-April 17.

"We are thrilled that this year's Emerging Athletes will have the opportunity to learn from these extremely talented and well-rounded clinicians," EAP Committee Chair Sally Ike said. "EAP is a wonderful opportunity for up-and-coming athletes to advance their riding and horsemanship knowledge under the guidance of top professionals and Olympians."
EAP offers riding and classroom education

The Emerging Athletes Program was created for young riders to gain riding and horsemanship knowledge in their pursuit to become informed and experienced horsemen and women within the hunter/jumper community. Since the Program's inception in 2009, EAP athletes have gone on to accomplish numerous championships in the Hunter, Jumper and Equitation show rings including the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search East and West, the FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships, US Hunter Seat Medal Finals as well as the ASPCA Maclay Finals.

USHJA Zones, in collaboration with the USHJA Foundation, have funding available for members to help offset the cost of attending an EAP Regional Training Session or the National Training Session. For more information and to apply for an EAP Grant visit www.ushja.org/zones, click on your home zone and then click on "Grants and Scholarships." EAP Grant applications must be completed by May 1.

The 2017 Emerging Athletes Program is supported in part by a generous grant from the   United States Equestrian Federation, as well as individual donors through the   USHJA Foundation. USHJA would like to thank   Dover Saddlery  for their continued support as presenting sponsor of the Emerging Athletes Program for the ninth continuous year. For more information on program specifications and application requirements, visit   www.ushja.org/EAP.
